Room Data Sheets SmartTool

RDS (Room Data Sheets) are used to capture the requirements and information of every space in a construction. They are usually created by the client during the briefing stage (also known as architectural programming in the US) of the design process. They may be here updated throughout the design process to reflect changes or to give an easier understanding to those who are responsible for delivering a project.

The Room Data Sheets SmartTool is an accurate and efficient sheet view and schedule building tool for building room (or space) data sheets in a Revit project. The tool is able to generate 3D, plans, elevations and views of schedules for rooms or spaces that are parametrically named and numbers on new sheets.

By default, the tool will employ the Room Numbering template and the Sheet Format determined by the Revit project, however, a different sheet name and style can be selected from the Tool Options tab. Alternatively, click ‘Load Configuration …’ on the toolbar to load previously saved configurations that will replace the current settings. This reduces the amount of manual work required for each different room or space size and type.

The tab ‘Naming’ allows the user to choose whether the space or room is included in the sheet’s Name text box which is located on the left of the screen. The ‘View Title: option defines what text appears in the title bar for each view. ‘View Increment’ specifies the number of increments that exist between each view on the sheet. The ‘Spacing’ option allows you to control the spacing between each view. The option to exclude titles from estimating view Sizes for Sheets’ option will stop titles from being included in the calculation of the number of views on the sheet.
